Just another Manic Monday

Oh Monday how do I love thee? Manic Monday is how it feels after a really great weekend!

Chris and I were super busy this weekend (or at least it felt that way!) Friday night we went to Bullfrogs Live and had a burger on the patio with my mom and a couple of her friends. Since we had the new family addition, it was a great opportunity to introduce the two. But then, it was all about laying low.

Saturday, Chris went biking fo two hours with a friend out southeast of Town, then went rock climbing with another friend for a few hours before coming home to pick me up to head out to the Washburn fooball game. Whew, that was a busy morning for one of us! We got to the WU game in time to tailgate with a couple of family friends before heading into the game to watch the WU kick some butt on the field. It was about time.

Sunday I spoke about a mission project our Sunday school class is participating in. We are partnering with Global Missions to provide 250 gift packages to children in Haiti. It makes me appreciate the things that I take for granted... ie: toothbrush and toothpaste. That evening Chris and I headed back to the church to  watch a movie with the Senior High Youth Group. We watch "To Save A Life" about a teen suicide and friend relationships. It was a really powerful movie. Unfortunately, our kids have had to deal with this lately as a friend of one of our recent graduates committed suicide in the last three weeks. But all found the movie powerful and there was some great discussion amongst them on how to identify and help someone who feels on the outside.
On a happier note, ss part of the YWCA Membership Appreciation week, Cindy Evans from the K-State Extension office came and spoke over lunch about adding spices into your cooking. She provided us with some really interesting information, recipes and two spices/rubs that we can try for ourselves. I am actualy quite excited to give some a try. I am just sure that Chris will enjoy it too. Maybe he'll just be happy with me cooking!

After a full day at work, I had a successful JLT Board Meeting. Every time I am with these ladies, I realize just how lucky I am to be part of the group. It's amazing to me how quickly the year is going! We are already talking about slating new board members for the 2011-2013 positions. YIKES!

As I sit here typing this out Chris is busy with the 20-30 Grants. Deadline to submit a proposal is tomorrow (yes, I was a week off!) and he is working on getting the ones he has already in sorted out for the selection committee. I'm very proud of him and his work with this project the last three years. He's set a benchmark for sure. Pippi is laying to his side with  her head on his leg watching his every move. Our dogs are just too funny!

Nothing too exciting today. Hope you have a great week!

Until next time!
