I know it...

Dear Blog,
I know it! You hate me. Please forgive me for I have been EXTREMELY busy this last month. Here's a quick recap:

August 18: Junior League GMM. Had a "bargain sister" come and talk to us about how to save money at the grocery store and in life! I think I could have given her a hug!

August 20: Chris and I went to see Ron White perform at TPAC. While we love him on Comedy Central, he repeated himself when he was live... but I won't complain, he was still funny!

August 21: Ahh... the Topeka Active 20-30 Gala! I do enjoy getting dressed up all pretty and seeing Chris in a tux. Plus the money goes to organizations in the community that work wtih kids. Hello YWCA! Thanks to 20-30 from the 2009 gala, the YW was able to expand the Early Learning Center to include a new KinderCollege.

August 24: The big 3-1 for me! Went to dinner with mom, dad and Chris at Jose Peppers. It was nice to get out for an evening with the whole fam.

August 26-28: Did publicity for the annual India Fest first thing in the morning to late in the afternoon.

August 27: Chris and I took Brian and Kim Williams with us to TPAC's Grape Escape fundraiser. It was a lot of fun, and we tried a lot of great wines!

August 29: Attended a bridal shower for my good friend Elizabeth Bostwick. She is getting married October 2 in Texas. (I'm heading down by myself... a little road trip with me and the Toyota!)

August 31: Gatsby, Pippi and I met Kari Presley and Porter at the Bark Park for a little outdoor fun and excitement. G and Porter played well with the other dogs. P on the other hand was a little skiddish and still needs a little work with socialization! We're getting there though.

September 4-6: Greg, Debbie, Sarah and Andrew visit Topeka for the McGee family trip to Kiowa, Kansas! Sarah spent the night at our house and had a very special "sleep over" as she likes to call it. She has even said that our "blue" spare room is her room! It's

September 5-6: All of us McGee's (including the dogs) loaded up in the Northern McGee van and headed south to Kiowa for the Labor Day 5K run! All McGee's gather this weekend. It's sort of like our own Christmas in September. Lots of food, fun, laughter, sitting on Carol's porch, sneaking a little rum, and of course... running! All runners finished the race, and we even had a few medal!

September 8: JLT Board meeting... enough said!

September 11: While we were remembering the nation on this day, I started the morning off with the Race Against Breast Cancer 5K run at Washburn. Finished in 31:45!!! Then Mindy, Stephanie, and Ruby accompanied me on my first trip to Nell Hill's in Atchison! OMG it was so much fun! I have a great lantern filled with pumpkins and gourds handing on my front porch. I also got some great new holiday decorations.

September 13: Went to work for a half day and delivered Meals on Wheels with Joyce. After doing that, it makes me appreciate the people and things that I have in my life. I am glad I got to do it, and I'm sure I'll do it again. Once I got done with the MOW adventure, Chris and I headed to KC for the Royals game and a little Chief's tailgating. Met up with some friends and had a great time!

September 15: JLT General Membership Meeting! It was a very special GMM as we awarded a sustainer with the Gold Rose Award. Linda Polly has been an outstanding supporter of the JLT for many years and is very deserving of the honor. We had 15 sustainers there for a wine reception and dinner.

September 16: I attended the Junior League of Topeka Sustainer Luncheon. It was great fun hearing Gary Clarke speak about his adventures at the Topeka Zoo.

Septemmber 17: Side note, but G and P finally got a haircut! Chris would have killed me had they gone much longer! :)

September 18: Started the brisk morning off with the Washburn Alumni 5K Run for Scholarships. It was an interesting course, but a lot of fun. I unfortunately had horrible blisters on my heels which made wearing shoes difficult. But I pressed on and finished in 32:00. Someone asked Chris how I was doing when I finished. His response, "Not good, her shoes are immediately coming off."

September 19: Chris and I ventured out with the "younger adult" group at church for a swimming party and bbq. Had to leave early as Chris left for a week in St. Louis for work that afternoon. But at least we got to do some stuff together for awhile.

September 19-24: Chris gone! :(

September 20-23: Emily painted the entryway at home. Took out the pink, painted it Latte. Still have some "finishing touches", but it looks better than it did!

September 24: Had a going-away party for a good friend who is leaving for Australia... well, today as a matter of fact! Ryan is going to be part of the Rotary GSE team traveling down under for 5 weeks. Can we say... jealous?!?!?

September 25: Happy, Healthy Me! kicked off with an event at Hy-Vee. Even though the clouds were rolling in, us Leaguers were out there promoting healthy choices for kids. That afternoon, Chris and I met Mindy and Liz on the Plaza to experience the Plaza Art Fair. Well, experience is a strong word... endure might work better. It poured on us off and on ALL afternoon. But, we did get to hear a fantastic little Irish band that was awesome. It was worth the cold feet and drizzle.

September 26: After skipping out on church following Sunday School, Chris and I finally took time to take a nap! Only to wake up and have to make a quick trip to the mall, and then to White Concert Hall for the Marian Clinic's Ultimate Concert. While I may not have been so excited to start with, the story of a girl that was helped through cancer by the Marian Clinic, doubled with the music that was performed... count me in again for next year!

And that brings us to this week!!! WOW! Once you put it all out there, you don't realize just how busy you are! This week is consisting of me finishing up everything that I need to get done before leaving Thursday for Texas. I'm excited for the adventure of traveling alone, but still wish Chris could go with me. We may see eachother again next week! Just kidding.

Until then...
E
