And let there be sun!

Last night the Junior League of Topeka FINALLY had the opportunity to gather members, prospective members, all our families together for a social. This social was originally scheduled for our June membership meeting, but, thanks to Mother Nature and her tears, we had to cancel last minute. But fastforward a month and we had a really great time. Sports Center is a great place for a family social!

Early in the morning the skies were looking grey and weather.com was indicating storms through the evening. I got nervous thinking we were going to have to cancel the fun yet again... but as Mother Nature would have it, by early afternoon, the skies were opening up and the blue was shining through. While I wanted to possibly complain about the heat, I really couldn't since it could have been a whole lot worse.

While I was standing up at the front welcoming everyone to the event, I had a chance to look around the pavillion. I was in awe of the women and families that were there. It was incredible... current active members welcoming prospective members... husbands that have been involed with JLT for years welcoming the newbies. I heard one person say, "Look, they have a man huddle over there." I think it was great! Also, the kids... WOW... the kids. Our League has a lot of kids under the age of five. They all played together and were all in awe of the people who were playing putt putt.

As the evening began to wind down, families ventured to play gooney golf and I couldn't help but smile realizing the night (despite the heat) was a success!

Until next time!
