Plus, it was the first time in six, yes SIX years that Chris and I had taken a trip just the two of us. We deserved it!
Chris and I ate, drank and were merry. We rented a house in St. Helena, sat in the hot tub and enjoyed the sunrises and sunsets. We got lost driving on the Silverado Trail and tasted wine at Luna and Black Stallion before retiring home with a pizza and wine from Farmstead.
We toured Gundlach Bundschu in Sonoma, Hall Winery and drank wine straight from the barrel. We tasted at Duckhorn ate an A&W due to time, and headed up Howell Mountain and ended a day at Cade. It was picture perfect! And ended our perfect trip with renting bikes at Velo Vino and riding all around St. Helena tasting, laughing and enjoying the time we have together.
We talked, laughed, remembered where our journey started back in 1997. We were young, many didn't think we would make it through a year, let alone college and yet here we are, 10 years of marriage later... 17 YEARS together.
We live a great life. We have great kids, a great house, reliable cars, food, water... and what we realize is that we are happy. We are happy in love with each other and with our life. I may cry some days, but I smile more.
So Chris, (I know you don't read this!) thank you. Thank you for believing in me. Me as a woman, a wife and me as a mom. I honestly can't imagine what life would be like without you in it.
