After many hours of evaluation with the 501 special education team, it was determined that Ethan would need to attend a special education preschool to receive the services he qualifies for: PT, OT, SLP, Social Work, and extra teaching assistance. It looks so daunting when I write it out. So, we all agreed that E would attend there days per week and still go to Prince of Peace two.
I'm going to be honest, the 501 evaluation process, the "developmentally delayed" label that was put on Ethan, the starting all new in a new environment, the IEP, the advocacy, it's all really hard! I try so hard to not get down on things, but these last three weeks of dropping my 3 year old off at school and watching him cry and scream before we get out of the car is heartbreaking. I know he's fine once he gets started, and I'm hopeful that the drop off will get better with time, but it's hard nonetheless.
We start Prince of Peace next week. Fingers crossed it's a better experience.
Until next time!
E
